Pastor Douglas McArthur Harris is a visionary pastor, passionate leader, social activist, and well-expressed Pastor and Teacher engrossed in preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, fighting against injustice; committed to economic justice and empowerment in under-served communities and touching and transforming the lives of the disenfranchised. Pastor Harris has served as a visionary and groundbreaking senior pastor of Midway Unity Fellowship Church in Midway, Florida for 15 years. Under his servant leadership, the ministry and membership has been constant and consistently growing since 2007.

Pastor Harris was born and grew up in Old Springhill, Alabama. He was raised in an era where theology and ministry did not co-exist well together. His family ensured his awareness of the inequalities of societies, but the call of Jesus is an invitation to freedom and trust. He graduated from with honors from John Essex High School in Demopolis, and furthered his studies at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. He worked to achieve his Masters Degree in Theology at Jacksonville Theological Seminary and is now pursuing his Doctorate in Theology.

Since Pastor Harris accepted the call to become Senior Pastor of Midway Unity Fellowship Church, the church has grown numerically and in ministry to the Gadsden and Midway community. Midway Unity Fellowship Church has moved one time under the leadership of Pastor Harris in order to accommodate its growth. Midway Unity Fellowship has purchased and moved to its 10-acre location. The purchase and move within the Midway Community was characterized by the vision and unity.

Pastor Harris is a committed community activist who has worked with and formed alliances with local community leaders. He has organized community conversations, health fairs, prayer days, concern citizens informational gathering, fellowship and food distributions, community fun days, youth extravaganzas and parent forums. He is the Founder Revive to Rebuild Ministries, developing outreach programs to educate and engage the local community, present positive lifestyle options, and guide individuals in embracing change on social, spiritual, and physical levels.

Pastor Harris has received several significant awards for the ministry and community activism. Pastor Harris is married to Patricia S. Harris for 51 years, and they are the proud parents of three sons, Emilio, Douglas, and Patrick and the grandparents of fourteen and great-grandparents of one! Always believing in the scripture “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you,” (Matthew 6:33) First Lady Harris loves praising the Lord. Having received Christ at an early age, she was always present in her church and active in its services. Retired from the Gadsden County School System after 37 years, she has served as a Adjunct Instructor in Developmental Education each fall semester at Tallahassee Community College. Lady Harris recently penned her first book, Epiphanies.

His philosophy of life is twofold: He believes that without God, life has no purpose, without purpose, life has no meaning, and without meaning life has no significance or hope, Additionally, he believes we are supposed to value the created order, and the weakest among us who cannot speak for themselves must be spoken for.

Pastor Harris is always beaming with confidence as he boldly tells everyone that he surrendered his life to God. He put Jesus Christ in the driver’s seat of his life and took his hands off the steering wheel. He is a servant of the King!
